Wow
That was totally surreal.
I just got the call that I had to shut down my scope because fog was coming.
In order to shut down, I have to go outside, on the roof.
First, it was windy. That's always creepy.
Second, the sky is really quite nice and clear (poor seeing though), but as I watched, fog from below started rolling up the mountain and some came to block out the Moon! It was a sea of vapor that washed over the mountain. It was really so very cool. I think I'm the only person who got to see it too because no one else has to go outside to shut down...
Wow.

Because I got bored and because my family likes to see and because I'm me, I have an observing diary with pictures and stuff. I'm going to be updating it every day.
Soon, I will put 6 auxiliary pages up too:
- pages for the science of the runs (2 runs = 2 pages)
- pages for the actual telescopes
- pages for the observing procedure - I'm sure my fellow grad students will find them totally uninteresting, or maybe interesting to compare to what you have to do.
Hopefully I'll get it all situated, it will just take some time :)

In tonight's observing news, the weather is BEAUTIFUL :) Well, seeing isn't the best, but I don't mind that - I'm taking spectra.
